Adz am I tapped in thinking that it takes the wax a while to activate 'for lack of a better word'?
I find that when I apply a wax and rag off it doesn't feel smooth straight away but come back in say 15mins etc it feels a lot smoother. Product used as a finisher at this time: Maguires Gold Class Liquid Wax.

The way I do it is to use a normal microfiber and buff off after 20-30 mins of curing. Then I go over the paintwork with a Swissvax polishing cloth, it's like a superfine microfiber that really adds luster to the final finish.
Time permitting if you put the car out in the sun for 30mins after you remove the wax, pull it back in the shade and re-buff you'll find it'll help that final finish also. Ensures the wax has fully cured and hardened to the panels.

There's a lot of good info in this thread that could help people new to detailing, or DIY polishing/waxing. Is there a general thread that this could be added to? Or possibly a new one started. If not, a mod can feel free to change the title to something more self explanatory, to help anyone who's looking for something like this.

Surface prep(wash(amorall) + fine clay(mother) + cleaner polish(Autoglym SRP) + sealant + wax.
If it's a white car, I recommend to use Zaino Z2 as sealant and Dodojuice dimond white as wax. Best combo ever. PS: +1 for a car detailing thread

Adz,
Not trying to steal your trade secrets but could you do me and probably few other a favour? Write in steps what needs to be done 1. Once a year, thorough detail a. Clean Car b...... c..... 2. Not so thorough detail a.... b... etc Also i have a white 4wd which does have a few clear coat scretches/battle wounds. Is the cut+polish good for that sort of stuff? If so any particular brand? All i know is if i use cut+polish to make sure to protect it later with wax

Ill just reword my "Harden on the paint" I mean to say allow it time to bond/attach to the paint, you actually buff residue off by hand after the bonding process.
Just dont use Repco/SCA brands, Eclipse, Armorall etc. The only one I would use from the auto stores is Meguiars. Try to get some products from Chem Guys or carcareproducts.com.au. Menzernza and Dodo-Juice are a step up from the Auto Stores. |
