Removing the vent covers (underneath) can get you a yellow if coolant/oil spray is found exiting those vents.

The hood scoop is exempt as it is foward facing.

Its in the ADR's.

No one mentioned coolant or oil pissing out the vents? A stock exhaust would also get you a yellow, if it was pissing out with coolant or oil. That is all a given, and stating the obvious.

tuna is telling it how it is. Take the lower side of the vents off, cop a yellow sooner or later. No idea where being a smart ass fits into it.

Curious as to the take on the interpretation of the ADR.

http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roa...Jan2011_v3.pdf

Ref Pages 12 & 13.

Note Figure LH2 shows a rear facing bonnet scoop with a pass noted.
I'd say the ADR is more concerned with pedestian safety.

Any yellow sticker may more than likely be at the uninformed discretion of the officer.

If you wanted to be absolutely certain, you could grab a couple of vent scoops.

I dont think anyone is being a smart arse, the conversation has kept to the topic well so far.

About the vents, the convo started by saying that vents minus back plates will cop you a yellow sticker, then went to how you'll cop a yellow if there is fluid pissing out of the vents. Fluid pissing out of anywhere will get you a yellow, not just from the vents. So the question is still there, if bonnet vents minus back plates will cop you a yellow, just for that alone..

I have heard they will cop you a yellow due to the potential for oil/coolant to exit the vents onto the windscreen, causing a visual obstruction that can't just simply be wiped away with the wipers. It's not 'if', it's more 'because it can'.

Reason I mention it is I was rejected at the pits with my last car because as Stace said, if a oil or coolant line blows there is potential for pedestrians to be sprayed with hot liquid as well as the potential for spraying the windscreen and obstructing the vision.
