Sorry to bring a thread from the dead boys.. but keen on any more recommendations here anyone had on this topic..
I'm also looking at a closed door respray for a new car of mine - but I know there isn't $5000 worth of work in it like some places want... Not looking for anything special just a closed door respray in a factory colour. I know you pay for what you get, but has anyone had any awesome experiences with a realistically priced panelbeater and one of these jobs?

This is simple, go buy all the necessary product for the respray, do all the disassembly and reassembly work yourself.
That way you're only paying for the labour.

I went to m&m panel and paint behind dixon road in rockingham and was quoted very reasonably to fix my hail damaged 08 impreza but i didnt end up getting the work done. I think it was 1600 for the roof bonnet and pillars. My brother also got a bodykit fitted and full open door respray done on his 180 sx a few years back by them and i think that was around the 5000 mark.. But that was back in 2006 i think. Might still be worth going to see them and get a quote?

There should be an app for the auto trade where you put in what you want done and they all bid for your work

Someone should make that happen. Haha.. might at least help with Panel shops that charge 3x more than necessary for a job just because 1/5 people fall for it and say yes.

Not sure how many car places are on here but checkout serviceseeking.com.au, servicecentral.com.au, and quoteseeker.com.au. Problem is they are just quoting prices I think so you don't know what their work is like. Otherwise just call a few and talk to them about what you need. I'm sure cheapest price won't best result for a respray, the prep work is he hard part.
