Totally agree, and realistically there's a level of quality difference expected out of a $20-$30 rattle can vs. an experienced painter going through matching shades etc. You can hope the shade is close enough to pass the untrained eye but it'll never be exact.

I agree, I have a code 95H wagon in the shed and it appears the same blue as the rest of your car.

Just a thought Bob; have you got clearcoat over that guard, or have you just polished it?

i was just looking at mine where the clear has peeled off and it has a purplish colour to it

MLB on Bannister road will do a colour match for your if you take a sample to them (petrol flap or even the car if you can drop it off to them), they match old school without using a spectrum analyser.
Always had a good service from them and will supply paint in rattle can, tin or both. Ask for Tony if you pop in as he seems to be the most helpful one ;-)

There is clear over the guard. We had the same effect on the original paint, where the clear coat had peeled. You would think there is purple in the paint.

There are actually 2 colour options under that 95H colour code. One is apparently more blue. I've since had a new can made up using the other option, but yet to sand it back and re-apply. I've done a colour test sample and it looks positive, however not sure if it's the right shade. Will only be able to tell once on the panel.

Cheers for the heads up on MLB.

Well take 2 is closer. Just a few shades too light. This is the second variation of the 95H coded paint.
Really need someone who can match paint.

Damn, that's a shame.

Where did you get them mixed?

The guys mixing the paint have been great about trying to help. So not keen to put any bad light on this or them. A DIY paint job was always a bit of a risk when it comes to matching paints.

Getting better at painting though. :-)

Will go for round 3 if there's a chance of the right colour.

understandable... just thought it might be a certain auto chain or something.

Good luck with the hunt for the right blue

This is almost always going to happen if they're just making adjustments here and there, to properly match you'd need to leave the car with someone for some time so they can get it out in the sunlight and use test strips.

Congrats on the finish though, looks pretty good.

There's a guy on antilag 'the user name is mike/similar and has a a dirtbike rider as their avatar', from memory they work for a paint supplier/does training etc, perhaps they can steer you in the right direction/do the mixing for you.
