Default 2004 SG9 Foz Steering Wheel - 02 STI

Looking for a bit of info on this...

Had a search but can't find anything relating specifically to this wheel swap.

Looking to complete my interior with a newer model STI wheel.

I know the 03/04 STI wheels are direct plug and play, but I can't seem to find one in that isn't completely wrecked or one for non crack money.

Wondering if anyone has swapped a STI Foz wheel before.

I have a feeling the clock spring will be the issue but thought I would check. The airbag charge afaik can be unbolted and installed into the new wheel housing?

They are 2 wire single stage airbags on the GD anyways. So that shouldn't be an issue just swapping the wheel "frame/surround" anyways?

The wheel is from a 2004 Forrester so hoping it will bolt on.

Cheers

Also the cruise control I noticed isn't on the new wheel.

Will that cause an issue with the 02 STI cruise control switch?

afaik. all the wheels will physically bolt on to the column.

the sti forester never had cruise control. so to make that work you will need to retro fit. ( if your existing cruise was on the wheel? ) im pretty certain the wheel wiil have mounting holes to bolt a cruise stalk onto (like cruise control stalks from 05-07 audm forester). but you will need to cut the rear shroud or get one from a wheel that came with CC. if you want to change from dash style CC to steering wheel stalk CC, i think you can wire it all in but there is something odd like set/accell/resume back to front or something like that, and unsure on how that will work with the clockspring.

im fairly sure (99%) you can connect the SRS. although i cant be certain.

horn should plug straight in too.

is your original wheel the 4 spoke momo. or the grey bulky 3 spoke?

I have the 4 Spoke Momo one. The grey bulky 3 spoke from 03/04 STI is direct plug and play.

Sounds like retro-fitting the cruise control is something for the "too hard" basket and it may not be compatible with the clock spring as well.

Thanks for the reply Bram

The 05 STI steering wheel needs clock-spring modification to fit a Bug STI Joe...this is from what I have read.

Thanks for the offer though. PM replied.

It is VERY rare for a JDM Subaru to have cruise control.

The only model that I remember occasionally have cruise control were the BP/BL onwards Liberty/Legacy.
