Sound staging is very hard in some cars running the four tweeters in the front and two in the rear i have found the sound to be much brighter and with the cdt speakers i can turn the stereo up to full power and still have no distortion . The fact that i have 6 volt pre outs on my deck add to this as well as im only running the amp under half . I have the pioneer competion grade deck which gives me sound slope adjustment fron t rear and sub and am totally happy with it .

Last weekend bought myself a pair of MB Quart splits for the new ute. For Quality vs coin you cant go wrong. I looked at focal and rockford as well but ended up chosing MB Quart for the better price.

Think you just went out of his budget there buddy ..... CDT's are awesome but you definately pay for what you get. As for the "competition" deck .... wank factor plus!!!

bringing alive an old thread here i finally picked up some front splits.
had to make spacers to get them in and keep them away from window.

bit hard to see but i think there is a good few mm clearance. though only problem is the door trims i think are lightly touching them very lightly.

i have already shaved any parts that were raised flat .though as most people know with these models the door slopes a little around the speaker area.

any ideas on what to do. if i unclip the door panel just one clip it doesnt touch so for now just let clip loose on each one and seems ok.

what speakers have people fitted and got to clear well.

i fixed it basically shaved bit more of the inside door flat, put the grills on the speakers to keep door from touching and clicked door back in to place worked well door sits flush and doesnt touch the speakers. yay.

now i need a really good stereo tune.... **cough cough** any one offering lol.

i use Hertz HSK 6.5" in the front
best speaker iv listened to,

soft dome tweeter etc, I ordered it from Technik back in the day, dunno were they sell em now

I use Apline DD linear in the back -but my system is setup 90% front stage so you hardly hear them anyway.

Tode, did you have to modify the rear speaker cut-outs to fit the DD Linears??

I have some older model MB Quart reference series splits in the front...and I'm looking at fitting an Alpine deck soon, and some decent rear speakers. Not really into stereos that much anymore, but I want it to sound much better than it does now!
