Even when filthy (most of the time) my car still shows up lots of reflections (clours, trees, road et al) but you start noticing the dirts getting bad after about 3 or 4 days. It still feels smooth as silk for about 10 days though. Of course thats me driving it fairly hard and all over the place! A handy little trick is to put your finger in a plastic bag and rub it along the panels. You feel all the little bits of crap u need to get rid of with the clay bar! Theres also no point waxing unless you clay bar it first. |

Meguires tech wax, I use it at two week intervals for the first three coats, then once a month thereafter

Meguiars products in general, are great value for money.
When you're talking an ultimate shine though, you need to step up....and use something like Pinnacle Souveran, or even P21S. For me though, the best I've used is Poorboy's Natty wax. The best shit on the market, damn cheap (because the packaging is plain, therefore the "poorboy" name). I havent got any at the moment, but once I finish off all my Meguiars stuff (I got a whole pile of it), I'm going to stock up on all of the Poorboys gear. i use mothers 3 stage
stage one goes right to the paint but isnt a cutting agent - but you still only do it once every 6 months stage 2 is a high gloss wash and stage 3 is PURE canubura wax, the solid version is the best - its rock hard, you have to heat it in your HANDS and melt it on, but it lasts AGES and its the best and to do all 3 stages properly would take you 4hrs. :P |

When i had my car detailed by Des @ AutoFX he sold me some stuff that he developed himself (~$20 bottle and apllicator sponge) and it works a treat. i do it about once every two months and makes my car shiny. rub on the liquid lightly then rub over with microfibre cloth. best shit ive used for a good price. ill prolly get about two years from the bottle as well.

Joe, when u need to order some more, let me know as the new car wont be a daily driver so it can be black
Simon, give it two or three coats within 12hrs-24hrs and you will notice a huge difference! |

Just to throw another hat in the ring so you are totally confused as to choice...I use Auto Glym Super Resin (I believe now also recommended by Subaru Aust) followed by a top coat of Plexus. This system seems to last for at least 6 months....good for me cos I've got much better things to do than spend avery few months polishing my car...
