Another good example will be Simon's Vi-pec graph:

Agreed ... All turbo Subarus appreciate a tune.

No no, you are mistaken. Sorry I have not logged a lot of NA cars on my Dynapack but I have personally been doing a tune on a B18C converted Civic using the Motec M4. The vehicle is a Honda EG Civic that is used regularly on the track. Customer came in with a bad variable cam change point and I smoothened the power curve with just a bit of timing.

Will post up the power curve on what I have achieved so far, as the job is on-going because I am still waiting for some data logs from his track session to finish the job off.

Won't be long.

Here's the before and after power graphs on the Honda B18C converted civic. It is obviously NA and I got rid of the canyon with a Motec tune.

Before:

After-tune with Motec M4:

Yup saw your graph.

NA or Turbo -- it is all in the tune to smoothen it out.

You power run wrx's with the bonnet open??

mao 27-11-2011 09:41 PM

1) We are required by law to keep the bonnet opened while on the dyno with at least 2 fire extinguishers on standby within 5 mtrs of the car.

2) Hp and Torque differences are so minute between an open and closed bonnet. The difference in hp between different air filters is more substantial than that.

3) At Evolution R, we do not worship numbers, instead we look at the overall graph, accuracy and driveability.

4) We datalog boost on our power runs which means the bonnet has to be opened.

5) Our Dynapack 5000 is the latest Dynapack in WA calibrated on a Porsche GT3 last year. Although our Dynapack 5000 reads lower than other Dynos, we pride ourselves in giving an accurate and honest hp reading. (Had a R34 GTR 550hp on another popular Dynapack Dyno which read 450ish hp on our dyno recently.)

Wasn't interested in all that. More interested in the fact the tmic isn't getting any airflow. That bit about the law is strange though as lots of places tune wrx's with the bonet closed.

mao 29-11-2011 12:22 PM

Russ, I seriously do wonder how much the turbine will heat up in a power run.

Heaps. How do you tune wrx's? With the bonnet open? Do you put a fan onto the tmic?
