Well until the new iPhone is released all I can comment on is how hard some of the original iPhones were to hack. If Apple continues that tradition, I doubt a simple unlock like that will work.

That was for the 2G iphone. we are talking about the 3G iphone, its completely different software.

Apple.com states the $199 price is on a two year contract. Outright price will be $399US for sure. Ide say around $599 outright here. I reckon its worth waiting after all the smoke clears to see the quality of the 3g and the data packages/pricing.
