They have always watered down the aussie versions of GTA boys, like in the last 2 where you couldnt pick hookers up in ur car n shit coz playing video games and looking at boobies is wayyyy to much of a corrupting influence on aussie gamers.

It is actually the combination of sex and violence that isn't allowed. In GTA3 you could pick up the hookers and then kill them. This is against the classification laws. So when they changed the game you could pick them up, but not kill them.

Yeah but how do access the patch on PS3? I'm talking about the console comunity here which is large. They won't officially release the patch on the Network, of course. (unless they eventually bring in R18+ classification in which case it may somehow become available as a restricted download in the future).
I know the PS3 has an OS and access to the Net (albiet soooo slow) so maybe you could type in the site of the patch on the browser and get it that way? But then the person that creates the patch for PS3 would have to know how to make it integrate with the PS3 OS and all that technical babble that I don't know. Am I right or just completely wrong? Basically I'm saying for $~70 you get the 'proper' game and don't have to worry about patch nonsense

IMO I doubt you would notice the changes (if any) which would be why Rockstar aren't saying what has changed. You'll find that they will change the future shipments, but not the ones on the way already.
There would be no way to unofficially patch a PS3 or X360 game. Importing a game that has been banned could end up with some serious consequences too. Technically it is like importing XXX porno. And for a high profile game like this, I'd expect customs to be on the lookout.

I would highly doubt any of the missions would change. It would merely limit a couple of things you could do while mucking around in the city. Doubting you'd even notice.

Looking at some of the questions on some of the ebay items, people are already onto it.
Asking if its the R or M version.

Heres the thing - if the imported version does not meet Australia law, wont customs be well within their rights to confiscate and destroy the game if the do a check?

I doubt it would list the game on the outside of the package. Might just say Category:games. Anyway like someone said I doubt anyone would notice the difference. There may be a few cut scenes that are slightly different, but the gameplay (I'm guessing) will be 99% the same. Last edited by perthzed; 09-04-2008 at 08:21 AM. |

But everyday there are 10s of thousands of DVDs and games coming from the states and asian countries, they're not going to open every one. And whenever ive ordered something, it just says "gift" as the item on it.
