Cordless phones on 2.4 Ghz can cause interference with wireless networking

http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/tutorials...le.php/2191241

This page mentions about changing the wireless channel to 1, 6 or 11, to help with reducing interference

seem to have got it working.

i upgraded the firmware. i left it running overnight and in the morning it still said it was going, so i clicked cancel, waiting 12 hours for an update is stupid.

after i clicked cancel the internet came back on, logged into the router settings and the firmware version was updated??

and the wii connected straight away.

but it looks like you still cant download new songs for guitar hero 3 on the wii

its a storage issue the wii has no hdd, though you think they could have made use of the SD card slot in the front!

or a firmware upgrade and plug a usb hdd in the back or something. There was always talk of downloadable content for gh3, but looks like they never got around to it

bit of a bump to this thread. same subject (kinda)

im off to India soon for work and theyve given me a laptop which im on now.

i cant get the laptop to work wirelessly with my home network.

atm ive just plugged a network cable into the router. but i dont want to sit in the kitchen when im using it.

ive checked all the settings, the password is right, it finds the network but wont connect. much like the wii in the posts above.

its also set to gain the DNS and IP info automatically.

im no expert on networks. but i dont see why i cant simply type in the WEP code and get it to work. router has the latest firmware (which is what the problem was with the wii).

the only thing i can think of is that work use Intel PROSet/Wireless to connect, not the standard windows one.

any ideas? id like to get it sorted soon.

cheers!

get rid of the encryption on your router for now (write down your settings so you can put them back in) and see if it works then. Sometimes i have problems with the complexity of the passphrase on WPA i think... e.g our one at work i set up, one laptop wouldnt accept letters and digits in the same passphrase. changed it to all numbers and it worked fine
