No PS3 is region free. Not sure how you can play Blu Rays from any region, the only way is if your PS3 is chipped (not possible) or the Blue-Rays have been decrypted. Sony never produced any region free PS3s & if they did they'd be in trouble!

A lot of bluray discs are region free. This is what confuses people about a machine being region free.
If the disc is locked to region a, you are out of luck.

slightly off topic, but still in the ballpark. Anyone know how to get burnt movies to play in a PS3?
None of the DVD movies I have on a DVD-R or DVD+R will play, but it will read the disc if it has data on it (mp3 etc) |

All PS3 games are region free, but you can only play movies (both blu-ray and dvd) from the same region as your ps3.

Guide to rip them. Not sure if it ignore the region haven't tried it out. Beware they take up masses of room. But then once you have ripped them you can use WinFF or something similar to shrink them (and keep quality high) |
