Its taken a long time, but it has finally been done.

already banned if used on PSN and doesn't allow firmware upgrades... yer nah not for me!

haha yeah, although Sony's security and encryption is much tougher than Microsoft's and Nintendo's.

Updates will come out and Sony will ban it, it will keep going back and forth. Its a step in the right direction though

I've already ordered one to try out on my spare 80gb PS3, even just to be able to not have to worry about swapping discs over all the time is well worth it. Will let you know just how good (or bad) it is when it arrives (more likely Monday by the looks of things)......

sounds good.

dumping of the games on an external hard drive and running them off that, seems fairly simple. Should be interesting.

How will Sony find out if you're using it on PSN? What kind of data do they collect to know how you're running a game, whether you have that device plugged in or not, etc etc?
I suppose nobody here truly knows the answer to that question. I'm just curious if anyone has any ideas.
