Default Someone tried to brake into my house overnight

I woke up to the noises coming from the roof, I sat on the bed for a few seconds listening to them, few seconds later...they were gone. This morning I checked the roof tiles were moved...fucking bastards!

They probably relised they were making too much noise and ran off. Wonder what they were after? The car probably...

Anyways not sure what the best way of defence against that kinda stuff is?? I have a house alarm, maybe set it to On for the nights and exclude the sensor in my bedroom?? What are your thoughts?

only way through roof im guessing would be attic/skylight access if the room only is on exclude then your room sensor or passage sensor should set it off.

Alternatively contact your alarm company and for another 75-120$ normally you can get a sensor put there.

Better check they haven't cut any wires in roof for the alarm etc.

They may come back another time to continue what they were doing.

my parents house has the alarm on at night, but their room has a sensor in it (the only bedroom that does) and when you set the alarm at night, pushing a different button isolates their bedroom so they don't set it off.

Easy to do that.

Don't install a sensor in the roof, it will go off constantly because of rats/mice/possums/cats in your roof. It will frustrate the shit out of you.

They would have been looking to get into the roof space and down through the manhole, which at night, if they don't know where its located, can be hard to find.

Quite possible they know your house, or at least where the manhole is.

Best bet is a fence all the way around your property with a remote cntrl gate. and some fuck off dogs. When/if i get my own house... this is what will be happening to my place.

Mate of mine owns a car yard and when they get broken into the units just jump straight through the plaster board. Spose it saves time looking for the manhole.

You should see the size of some of the holes these kids make.

just install the magnetic sensors on the inside of the wall, that will sort the Rat/etc issue out.

Got a dog for good measure too.
