They put the X there to mess with your tiny little brains....

Explain this then... if the X actually stood for something to do with rally or experiment or such horse shit... Why is the base model impreza an RX???

I think you will find that the WRX is a code designation indicating the World rally (rally) version of the standard impreza (which in '05 was dropped in favour of the GX)

Don't take my word as gospel but it was one thought stream that meshes together...

Of course it could stand for Xpletitive.. the words that people make when they first experience an AWD launch @ 6500rpm.. Oh yeah... you know you love it!!!

Originally the base model was the LX, then GX, RX is the top of the range NA

Yeah i meant the non-turbo versions. base model = non-WRX

And the RX was dropped to become the GX.... not the WRX being dropped to become something else...

Hmmm well at least your on the ball with my f@$# up's...lol

This was asked on Nasioc a long long time ago.

The message sent to Subaru/FHI:

Quote:
Ta***wa-san

....I was hoping you might be able to settle a debate for me. We have been
debating in the North American Impreza Club what exactly "WRX" stands for,
(I think it means World Rally and the X means Cross Country) so I am hoping
you could give me the official meaning of the acronym (and help prove how
smart I am : ) )
The answer:

Quote:
Hello Segal-san,

....About "WRX", WR obviously stands for "World Rally", and "X" stands for the
mathematical symbol for the unknown, that means its possibility is infinite.
I believe "Cross Country" is also included in that possibility, don't you
think?
I personally think they called it the WRX because that is what they wanted to call it. No secret meanings behind it at all. But thats just my opinion
