Talking warranty goodies

on the last P-WRX cruise i noticed my rear diff got quite noisy... took it to subaru (cos of warranty) and it turns out that the rear diff is on its way.
you wouldn't beleive how much a brand new diff is.... $6,000!!!!

just thought i'd let ppl know if they're going to buy a car through a dealership BUY THE WARRANTY!!!!, subaru are now putting in a brand new diff for me, warranty over 3yrs cost me $2,500 and has already payed itself off.
so stoked

just a word of adive

GD on yA, last week i just found out my 07 STi was leaking oil from the oil filter COOLER . Took it down to Melville Subaru, and they said the seal on the oil filter is not properly fitted. And theres a chance it wont be warranty because i got my exhaust done and someone have messed around with it.

So i went to complained to the Dealer Principal that there's no way that the exhaust people would touched anything near the oil filter cooler or the cooler itself . After few minutes of argument, they finally decided that it is warranty.

O6 / 07 STi OWNERS, Please check your dipstick oil and make sure that the oil is on the FULL line mark! It could be that your car is leaking oil

i dunno if a new diff will cost $6K, but dealers are a rip, my dad's euro had his front brake rotors and front pads replaced under warranty and the dude told my dad it wouldve cost $4k

The diff is definitely 6k, but this is for the whole rear end assembly not just the centre.

I know this because my diff was whiney and I went to the dealer a couple of weeks before my factory warranty expired.

6 weeks later, the diff arrived and they replaced it free of charge under warranty, then they proceeded to show me the written part quote for a laugh....I almost fell over when I saw it!

News to me. Mine doesn't burn anything noticable at all.

Just been to Adelaide and back done nearly 7000km in last 2 1/2 weeks. Hasn't moved a millimeter on dipstick.
