its proven that this doesnt work... subaru arent stupid or any dealership for that matter.. most technicians know when something has been modded or swapped for warranty purposes... why have a new car and smear it in a cup of mustard?

If you mod ur car there are chances that it may stuff up, this is the hope we have with tuners and workshops that they do there best to ensure this dosent happen.

You play be prepared to loose.

If u want any performance mods done, like exhaust etc, then u will need a retune as the ecu will make the car run rich, this inturn will stuff up ur 02 sensor etc etc..

if u just want the sound, then just put on a diff back exhaust, it shouldnt affect warranty but check to be sure and it shouldnt affect performance.

Tuning ur ecu can provide better fuel economy, if u dont go too wild, so it has it benefits also.

list of mods im thinking of getting from vision r are:
trust pe2 cat back, fujitsubo front pipe and cat,
apexi air filter, hks ssv bov, defi gauges with the zerosports or the defi triple meter gauge holder, leaning more towards the zerosports just because the fact that i dont need to pull out the clock, aswell as that trust profec b spec boost controller, and a turbo timer. Basically the guy at city subaru where i bought my car said any modifications which alter or do anything to the engine will void my warranty. And about putting back the stock parts if the car did go wrong, the guy at subaru told me a few people have tried but to no avail.

Nah if you mod the engine / ecu / turbo and something engine based lets go, of course they wont give you warranty but say you reflash and TBE and your diff starts playing up, i dont think they'd knock you back!

I was in same position with the new car too. If i mod it and something breaks, they told me they will only cover it, if the problem isnt caused by the mod!

they could say the extra power output is what killed the diff.

OK...best mod is turbo back exhaust. With pre MY06 this could be done without any other mod and was safe, but for MY06+ it would be wise to re-tune if you are going to change the exhaust...ie Verso, ECUTek etc (search)...upgrade fuel pump also wise. If you change the exhaust without re-tune and run the car "normally" (ie no track or drag work) in "most" cases it will be OK. So your choice.

btw, forget the turbo timer(not needed), filter (dubious), BOV (OE one is best) and boost controller (= trouble).

What City Subaru said is true, and workshops will be able to tell pretty easily if you put stock parts back. Generally though (if you are honest with them), Subaru will fix problems unrelated to modifications...therefore your warranty isn't "void" per se.

My advice on exhaust is that there are a number of excellent proven systems manufactured and sold locally (search threads)...you have a $60k car, so don't shortcut on quality to save a few $'s. Support the local industry!

Panel filter and resonectomy, full zorst, ECU tune / reflash for less than 5K = 200kw at the hubs, easy with not too much risk of the proverbial hitting the fan and car is transformed into a pretty quick car. You can do it cheaper if you buy wisely / 2nd hand etc

hey mate, i bought my car from osbourne park subaru and they told me the same. anything external to the motor is fine to mod but if u change exhaust for example, get that with warranty because changing the exhaust will void the warranty fo the standard one. so pretty much ur problem. but yeh if they trace a problem back to a specific mod u've done then that won't b covered.

I have the Magna Flow 3" with 4" Dump as well. Awesome exhaust with a nice note, sounds even better with headers

DO NOT take your car to APC!!!!!! They are fantastic with trev mobiles but don't have a clue when it comes to Suby's!
Your car will need a re-tune if you install an exhaust. DON'T LET THEM PUT A BLEED VALVE ON AND TELL YOU THIS'LL SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

I would say purchase the exhaust from them and have it fitted somewhere else that know what they are doing with Subaru's. This is an expensive exhaust though, you will find a Subaru specialist will be able to offer you something a bit cheaper. I would still go for the magna flow though if I had to buy another exhaust.

Take you car to one of these places. I use Race Torque.

Correct...its all dependant on mods.

If you fit an exhaust and your electric windows stop working, they'll fix it.

If you fit an exhaust and the exhaust housing of your turbo cracks, they'll be more suspicious.
