But the WRX is not a good looker. It never has been. It doesn't look sporty, it looks like like a cheap Korean car with a bodykit. And this is something that true WRX fans will admit. People have never bought the WRX for it's looks, it was always all about the performance, the AWD and the price tag. If you picked 20 sporty cars the WRX would be right at the bottom of the list looks wise. The basic Impreza is a very ordinary car to look at, by putting on a bonnet scoop and bodykit doesn't transform it into an awesome looking car. So I'm mystified why people are so upset about a very average looking car being designed differently. You need to look at the big picture - WRX - awesome performance, lousy looks. Get over it.

I agreee in a way. But i guess thats part the reason everyone feels so let down. They had a good chance to re-design completely and actually make it look bad ass, but they didn't. Why?

New civic type R or Golf GTi are the way to go for hot hatches.

Hot4 small sedan? New evo FTW.

Yeah true. I guess it comes down to demand/competition. I guess you could say sporty 4 door sedans are almost uncommon. There are a few models around, but it seems that coupes and hot hatches are the current trend and for Subaru to compete against the likes of the Golf, Astra, XR5 etc then they need to go down the hatchback route irrrespective of what their design engineers or what true WRX fans want.

The WRX (Not the STi) has been the only car in it's class for years now. Sales in the US have been huge. Maybe they are trying to make more of a clear cut difference between the Liberty and the Impreza? The Liberty Tuned by STi is looking pretty damn good right now except for the price tag.
The thing the WRX will have over the other hot turbo hatches is AWD and I think that will give it the edge in it's new market!
