Default New WRX

Boys,

Some pics of the new wrx. What is up with the hatch? Just going to look like all the other hot hatch wannabees now!

It's a hatch because the current model cannot compete against the likes of Loeb, Hirvonnen etc etc in the WRC.

All the leading cars are hot hatches .. Ford Focus, Citroen C4 .. now the WRX.

It was bound to happen ..

If Mitsi was still in the championship .. The EvoX would probably look nothing like it does at the moment i reckon.

It does look a bit funny, but I think it will be one of those cars that grow on you. Not attractive initially, but yeah give it a while.. I do think they are going down the right path with the 'hot hatch' look. A sedan with a bodykit - they look a bit dated now, I think if you're going to have a sports car it needs to be a coupe or a hatch. The RS4 for example is a phenomenal car, but it is so understated, which in someways is a good thing, but if I'm forking out $140K+ for a car then it has to look the dogs bollocks. Subaru had to change the look of the WRX. They ruled the roost in the 90s, but I think they failed to move with the times and stay one step ahead of the opposition. Now everyone has caught up I think Subaru needed to go in a slightly different direction, which they seem to be doing. If you look at the rave reviews the Gti get, then if the WRX can match or exceed the Gti then I think Surbaru will be doing pretty well. A 2.5LT AWD hot hatch.... bring it on.

there has never been a thread about how good looking the new wrx is :P

this is not why you buy the car, its for performance. and driver experience.

Yes I agree, but style costs nothing. The interior of the WRX is naff and the exterior is at best ordinary, why Subaru couldn't sort these out is beyond me.

it looks shit.
Personal preference, i dont like hatches either.
Looks like if thats the way the rexes are headed, I wont be upgrading to them thats for sure.

How disappointing if that ends up being the new wrx (dont hold my breath since theres been a few threads on this subject)
