Actually it's not illegal to split the lanes if you want to get technical about it. IF the bike stays in the lane next to another vehicle without excesivley changing lanes you are well within the law. Riding on the line or changing from one lane to the other without indicating is against the law.

Personally I go to the front almost every time. Why? I've been knocked off my bike by a idiot driver who changed lanes without indicating across a white line coming up to a set of traffic lights. Being tagged at 80km/h is NOT fun. Sliding through a red light with your bike on the ground infront of you and your ass being torn up by th road is also not fun.
I always ride at at least 5km/h faster than the traffic so I only have to worry about what is ahead of me in traffic not the average spanker who can be next to you if you ride at the same speed and they don't check their sides before changing lanes.

Nobody is racing you because almost any bike will eat you off the line. As for the wheeelie......have you ever opened the throttle on a 900cc bike in 1st? It's not hard the front will stand up all by it's self.

Problem solved...

Besides... Even if lane splitting wasn't illegal it is stupid. You are
endangering your own life, which is not really a problem as such,
however if you don't die, then my 3rd party insurance pays to fix
your broken back etc... Which pisses me off. You act like a tool,
split lanes and do illegal crap, and ALL taxpayers foot the bill.
GROW UP, be a responsible part of society or stop riding.

WRONG!!!

I have actually rang the licensing centre and it is not illegal to split lanes on the bike....which means it is legal. Don't believe me, call them yourselves. What really pees me off is the fact that every single person that is violently against bike riders have never been on one. Try it for yourself and see how you are going to behave, totally agree with the guy above me.....

could it be the fact that a person can be a lot quicker in their $10k bike than ur $50k wrx with ur girlfriend sitting beside you and watching u loose...remember mate, the bike rider is not even trying

it is illegal to split the lanes on a bike whilst traffic is moving, if it is stationary, you can do what you like.

Having had experience in cars and on bikes all I'd say is there are retards that use both forms of transport.

Some bikers do some pretty stupid stuff and give bikers a bad wrap.... seems they are more memorable than the significantly higher number of retards who drive cars....and dare I say, some of them drive WRX's and Liberty's too!!

I for one would split traffic if I'm on a bike once it's stationary, and don't get this whole "they should line up behind me." attitude. Not like your lining up to use an ATM or anything....it's a road man, get over it...

i only ever split lanes if traffic is stopped, it's a wide enough road, theres shit loads of cars and finally and most importantly if it feels 100% safe.

oh and tailgating and swerving at bikes to scare them is a dumbfuck thing to do.

my 2c.

I havent read the whole thread but I'm sure its already been said

Most bikers don't even want to race you they just want to accelerate fast to get clear of the cars at the lights. Live and let live
That said , there are dickheads everywhere on bikes and in wrxs except dickheads on bikes tend to exit the human gene pool quicker as there is less margin for error on a bike...
