from 1st hand experience dont buy cheap, waste of money in wet weather conditions. good silica compound tyres for wet weather.

I would always recommend the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 to anyone with a performance car.

Its queit.
Its great in the wet and dry.

For another opinion speak to Shane at Exley's Tyre and Brake Service Willetton, 163 High Road, Willetton, WA, 6155, 08 9354 7855

Mention Perth WRX and you will get a better deal.

wider tyres = more grip = good.... for drags where you have more power than grip.

wedged into rims designed for something else = far worse performance due to floppy sidewalls

i bought a set sumitomho tyres off john at wheels world, $180 a pop but well worth it. awesome tyres, if not go for like kumho or bf goodrich. just if you don't go to like a well known place oor something, just watch wat they say. some places will recomend a tyre that they say is a soft compound, which is good, but wat they dont tell you is that 20,000kms down the track they harden up like crazy, and itll be a hard and noisy drive.
moral of the story: spend the extra $$$$
