Default Windscreen Repair Advice...

Hey folks, unfotunately my front windscreen was cracked by loose gravel/rocks on the Possum cruise yesterday. I predict the small crack will grow in the coming weeks...

Can anyone recommend a reputable windscreen REPAIRER (not REPLACEMENT) as I'd rather avoid the cost of replacing the entire windscreen at this stage.

Obviously there's Allwest and Windscreen's O'Brien. Any other recommendations?

Cheers.

Ed

If the chip is in line with the driver they are not allowed to repair it. Also the repairs look like crap. You have a lovely car and you can prolly get a new screen installed for around the $300 mark. Not a lot of money really for some piece of mind.

Also check with your insurance because you might be entitled to one free screen a year.

Cheers

Yes (how'd you guess) it's directly in line with the drivers side, slightly smaller than a 5 cent coin. I always wondered how they actually repair it without noticing any edges?

Shit...

I'm looking into my insurance policy.

Cheers.

Nah Jase it was always slightly smaller than a 5 cent piece. Well, ok maybe about half the size then (just took out a 5 cent pice from my wallet to compare LOL). But as I said, no doubt it'll grow...

If you end up going the replacement option.. I highly recommend Windscreens Obrien.. Their service is outstanding and the quality of work is high.. I mean after they cut all the glue out they actually paint the windscreen lip so that it wont rust etc.. Alot of other places dont bother..

Just go with your free claim if you want Ed. If a new one is going to set you back $300, even if you claim it on your insurance i doubt your premium will go up to anything near that.
