Default Service?

Hi guys

My car is slightly over-due a service, but at the moment, I cant afford to pay someone to do the service for me, I prefer that since my knowledge of cars is a little limited. In saying that, I can still do minor maintainence stuff if the need arises, so it looks like, the need has arrised.

What kind of stuff do I need to do to try and service my car, but do as much as what gets done in a regular service (service was due for 126,000km) appart from an oil change, which I was going to do anyways.
If someone could tell me what I need to add to the 'To Do' list, and anything I should look for, it would be very much appreciated. (ie should I replace coolant?)

I already have someone to check my brakes, so thats not a problem.

did you change your timing belt at 100k ? its always good to flush out the coolant (depending on when you last flushed it?) and replenish with genuine subaru coolant.
with your brakes, just jack the car up and take wheels off so you can check the 'meat' on the pads without having to remove anything else.

2nd that. If you check the maintenance manual with your car, it tells you what to check, change or replace. Good luck!

125k Service is oil, oil filter and upper engine cleaner. Everything else is checks and adjustments. I would recommend checking the drivebelts and the air filter condition, and then levels, tyre pressures, lights, wipers etc is normal routine maintenance.

EDIT: Pretty much what SPOOLED said....
