Default What Traps to removing seats

Looking at my times and playing with a couple of online drag calculators I reckon if I can drop about 100 kg I think I am in with a shot of a 11.9 something think I can get a 12.2 as is with a good run.

Would the passenger seat and rear seat add up to this much. Can't imagine it but I know they arn't light.

If I did decide to do it ( I am a lazy bugger so probably won't, but If I did ) what dramas are involved with removing the passenger seat. I am guessing there are sensors for the airbag to the seat some how. Would it be safe to drive if unplugged???

passenger seat, rear seat, spare tyre, boot floor, empty glove box, centre console might save u some weight.

Not sure about sensors for airbag's etc. Maybe leave the front passenger seat in to be safe, just remove everything else.

Have to wait till next season tho. Early September.

i have removed my rear seats (06 sti) many times and there is no sensor nor is there any wires going to them... weight saving less than 15kgs.. they are very light.... hence i doubt they will confuse the airbags system

yea always chuck out anything loose ( safety more than anything ) floor mats spare and jack just to save a little strain on things but basically as I drive it.

I do leave the fire extinguisher in it and that would be staying regardless.

Taking the back seats out is just 6 bolts and simple as.

I like it, as it gives you that 'phulleh siq' racer feeling. But as Muggz said, there's not that much weight in them. I also have spec c rear seats which are lighter again.

john, i reckon there is not much weight difference in seats... i got full spec c interior at the moment.. and the sti set in the shed.. they both feel about same weight.. the spec c rear back seat would be a tad light cos there is no arm rest to fold down around 200gm for the mechanism??..

MSR- do you take out the spare wheel, jack etc b4 u go out on a run and does motorplex ask you to do that still?

Hmm, I'm only guessing they are lighter due to the lack of steel in the spec c ones. But agree, not much lighter.

Oh and my patent pending testing method of holding both of them up

Depending on how hardcore you want to go...
Remove rear seats
Remove passenger seat (not sure about the airbag business tho)
Remove spare tyre
Remove jacks/tools
Remove spoilers
Nearly empty tank
Light weight rims
Anything from the interior
Speakers

Basically anything that isn't needed and weighs something.

Also have a pre-game dump before going to the drags

I think he also mentioned the front seat, which is connected to the airbag, and does have a bit of weight to it.

Yea I do ( figure 10 - 15 kg less strain on things ) never been asked to remove them
