Anything that is not stock is a bastardisation of the original design............If the point of that comment is that there is no reason for a FMIC then they would know they race cars BUT
they can afford to fix the car when it fucks up, I wouldn't be taking my car on the track on a 40+ degree day without a FMIC thats for bloody sure.

As for EcuTek I will not say anything at this point in time as I might regret it later.

my car run 16.5 psi max and 150kw atw. (not bragging just for sake of hp vs top mount comparison)

using the stock top mount it runs fine, no probs what so ever.

add water spray and she feels happier in terms of reving and the car feels noticeably smoother on acceleration o a hot day.

I have tried using cold water at the plex and it made little difference.

dry ice melted away before 2 minutes had past. little difference.

the heat in the bay makes these extra bits a little pointless as it heats up so quickly.

top mount response is better in terms of spool up.

my ideal set up would be a barrel cooler and the heat exchanger mounted up front. good for 400hp.

I wouldn't be taking anything that isn't a properly preped track car out on a track on a 40+ degree day regardless of a FMIC or not. Components and oil gets really hot the car will be sluggish anyway and it's going to be rather unpleasant with the windows up the Aircon off and long sleaves a pants.

Go play on the plesant days.

Ever wonder why the V8 Supercars don't run in summer time???

My thoughts exactly!!!! FMIC or TMIC...I wouldn't be going racing on a 40+ degree day full stop

Don't race in Summer time aye? Hidden Valley where it can be around 60-65 degrees in the cab Got fark all to do with seasons Vs performance, it's about keeping the drivers concious while they are racing.

As everyone has said go a FMIC if you making big numbers, otherwise upgade splitter/scoop/TMIC. It'll be cheaper anyway.
Just to throw my hat in the ring, If you do go a FMIC I would suggest a Bar and Plate over Tube and Fin for it's better cooling efficiency per square unit as I'm led to believe. I'll be chasing one of these if the need ever arises and I prefer the look of them anyway.

No intercooler for minimal lag.

If you're worried about detonation, drive your car only in winter between 12am and 6am.

Correct but on the downside bar&plate will increase your lag more compared to tube&fin I suppose depends what you want...

how much lag you'll gain by installing A FMIC also depends on the type of the intercooler: its size, size of the end tanks etc. The easiest way of thinking about it is to imagine air leaving the turbo and having to travel extra distance (extra piping) fill a bigger cooler(bigger end tanks as well) compared to your stock tmic...of course it's going to be laggier. Increase your boost or get a different turbo that pushes more air to combat the lag...for mild mods stick with TMIC

funniest thing i saw was an old tx3 with a huge FMIC...almost as wide as the car with stock boost and the guy asked me why his car isn't responsive hehehe
