It's not just the size of the end tanks, IC piping etc .. It'd also come down to the Turbo you are using, and in primarily the CFM+Spool time the turbo can push out ..

More CFM + Quick Spool + VMOUNT + Short Piping = WIN

Noob type question = what is V-mount exactly? Does that mean the intercooler is laid on an angle to air flow or the actual intercooler is built like > ?

^^^ The radiator and IC ar no longer mounted one behind the other. They are arranged in a V with the radiator mounted below angled backwards and the IC mounted above angled forwards. The air coming in goes through the IC and escapes behind the IC heading up and through a vent in the bonnet.

I thought the efficiency of the front mount compared to the top mount is more defined under the high boost applications.
With high boost, the lag of a front mount is out weighed by the increase cooling efficiency and increase in power due to lower intake temps than what is achievable from a top mount.
Under low boost the difference in intake temp between the two types of coolers is less therefore the lag factor of a front mount can negate any power increase.
Thats my thoughts on the subject.

Guys lets finish this TMIC vs FMIC argument....if you want a lagless system with perfect cooling see RogerCordia's setup mate, will even make your wheels spin

Age old discussion about FMIC and TMIC.

It really comes down to application, so really you just need to do
what you feel is right for you. I look to the limited edition variants
and use them as examples. If the spec c's and S20x's still use TMIC
then there is an underlying science were not bring privvy too.

Fair Call!

I think that both have their place and are suitable for different applications!

Just a matter of working out which is going to be most suitable for yours!
