Does anyone know how long it actually takes for the anti hi-jack to kick in?

40 seconds after you have opend the driver door or undone the seatbelt then it takes another 15 seconds to do all of its beeping and carring on that it does then it stalls. Thats a stab in the dark its in the manual but that would mean walking to the car to get it.

But if you have the anti hijack on, you may miss the chance of seeing your car on the news in a high speed chase, plus the &%$#s that stole probably wont drive it into a tree and die.

Then you get your car back + 40 seconds of redline thrashing on the clock and an interior that smells like BO.
