would disconnecting the battery screw up the brant ? gonna be installing my headunit so I need to dc the batt.

Should be fine, its only on earlier model Brants that the battery backup was only for a few days...the new ones can remain disconnected for months at a time.

so if i pull my neg off my 02 to reset my computer the brant will be fine?

Early is 02 earlier. 03 onwards are the updated ones.

If you have an 02, don't disconnect the battery for more than 2 days.

just wondering why your disconnecting battery to install headunit, i have never done this.
