Default Advantage/Disadvantage 2.0, 2.2, 2.5L?

Im currently building a motor at the moment, car in the workshop all stripped apart. I built a Ej257 with forged pistons an rods but a rod bolt snapped and it all turned to shit.
So im either going to build a 2.2L or a 2.5L motor. 2.2 will prob be a stroked ej20
What are the advantages and disadvantages of each???
What would you do?

Thanks in advance

2.0 Higher revving, less lowdown power.
2.5 lower revving, bigger displacement allows for more exhaust so bigger turbo possibilities.(flame suit on) weaker construction.
2.2 Costly. need to buy a kit for 2.0

I thought you could get the ej22 from the legacy, fully closed deck. Thought they were the ducks nuts

There is a few around. Mine WAS one.

So a 2.2L should be a good balance between high reving an low down torque?
I want something that revs high but also has good low down street driving power

What roughly do you think the cost difference would be form a 2.2 to a 2.5? about 3grand?

it depends if u want to sleeve and close deck the block.. then yeah around 3-4gs...

if not they should be the same price...

If ur going to build the 2.5.. U NEED SLEEVES as a minimun...

If your going to build the 2.5 then you DONT need sleeves. Look at my engine. You just need to get the block closed decked and plate deck honed and then it won't ever blow up. I run just under 22psi and 300kw atw. No worries.

Sleeving is only if you are going to run more than 25psi boost on a 2.5 according to perfourmance (who built my short motor and supply the parts for most 2.2L's runnign around including WRX STI's).

I voted for a 2.2L. Fully closed decked very strong but with a few extra CC's to drive a big turbo. Perfect balance between Rev's and ability to run higher boost.

I think im gona go a 2.2 I want something that revs but still has abit of torque and that can support a large turbo, But i already got ej25 number plates from the last motor so that could be a serious mechanical issue (ie removing them )
But 2.5 was a very enjoyable engine to drive on the street. Im so confused right now???
