Sounds like you need to replace your engine with a 2.5 to get the sort of reliable performance and low oil consumption that we all crave.

This story kinda reminds me of the HSV dealership that after the 5th attempt at fixing a power steering leak just gave me 15L of power steering fluid and said ... one a month and come back when that runs out.

I am taking my car to RMS morro and getting a wet and dry compression test to try and find out the exact problem and just give the results to subaru and take it from there. I like the sound of a 2.5 haha but yeh can only dream. i phoned up the rac today and they have told me everything i have to do to be able to lodge a complaint with subaru. The guys from peel subaru are helping me out and hopefully if i go about it the right way all will be sorted but keep yas posted. Thanks for the advice.

haha you had the Power steering problem too?
How about a new LS1 every 50,000km? or a new diff at 70,000 or a new gearbox at 100,000? or chewing out Bridgestone S02's after 10,000km? I could just go on and on.

POS Holden. When will they learn that you cant turn a taxi into a sports car?

Some would say that, others would say it is just a lemon like most HSV's!

If I did half as much to that HSV as to what I do to the WRX I probably would have only got 10,000km out of a motor

That does sound like a fair bit of oil to use. I cant see why they would think a sti would use so much more oil than any other turbo subaru.

Though if you think that 600ml in 1000ks is bad the turbo charged aircraft engines i work on are allowed to use up to 1 litre of oil per hour of engine running! Its a scary thought that the plane may run out of oil before it runs out of fuel!
