I dont trust them to drop the other taxes after they introduce the new ones. Wouldnt it mean fuel would go down to like 80c a litre?

So this will be like London where you pay a tax to drive in. That is fine, but how will this work in Perth?

Congestion points in Perth are just from poor road design / poor synchronization of traffic lights. I doubt anyone would want to pay a fee to drive over the Narrows.

In london they have people monitoring the inner city traffic with cctv and tweaking traffic lights etc to help keep the traffic flowing so their congestion tax actually goes somewhere.

That will be great, when people cant afford to use the roads, and cant use the trains coz theres no car spaces left at the stations.

haha

as if any of you believe the petrol price would actually lower.

even if you removed all the tax componets, oil companies would charge the same.
just more money for the company.

you may see a drop quickly because of the media interst, but in 6 to 12 months the bowser price would be back the previous mark.

in reality, we need a better public transport system. and i mean trains, lots of trains.
not eh pathetic 5 rail system. minor rails should be feeding these larger ones.

however for that the happen perth needs a denser population. i know. lets build up. ohh wait we cant. why not? casue itll ruin the city scape of the beaches. hang on thats why we have councils to police these kind of issues. ohh wait arent they corrupt? shit.
