Default WRX Build Dates

Folks, I'm just seeking confirmation on Model/Year as opposed to build dates on my wrx.

It's build date is July 99, but I'm pretty sure its the MY00 as its got the colour coded mirrors and door handles and interior map lights. And then people start talking version numbers and I just get even more confuddled.

I'm never certain to claim it as a MY99 or a MY00. Can someone please confirm from the details given what year to call it? Or can ya tell me what else to check against to be certain what model it is? Its not a major detail, but I'm wanting this resolved as part of my quest to achieve harmony throughout the universe - gotta start somewhere I guess.

Cheers.

MY00 also has dark grey triangular vents below the indicators, instead of orange on MY99. If you've still got the standard ECU, have a look on the ECU case and check the code number. AE800 and AE801 are mostly MY99, while the MY00 are AE802. The wiper speed in intermitent mode is adjustable on the MY00 while it's not on the MY99.

Tell me what the 'MY' stands for? Make Year?

I have a bugeye.. it was actually produced January 03. It's horrible when I get parts for my car and people ask what year your car is.. I always have to say its an 03 but same car as 01 and 02.

Subaru's model year has always traditionally (generally) run (in Aust) from about September to September...except for the MY02 STi which had build dates starting in Dec 2001.
So an MY99 went from Sept 98 to Sept 99...etc, etc

august actually

karl, yours would be an MY99 with aftermarket colour coding & bits, unless you bought it new, then i'd say it might have been a dealer option

Nup it has it stamped on the little silver plate '01/03'. Darren from Technik has seen it. Perhaps they were a little slow on building some of them?
