Do your research.

If you want info on a build, speak to someone who is capable on giving you a credible opinion like workshops and members who HAVE actually built their engine or had their engine built before. There are many who think they know the ins and outs without having even considered the exercise.

Plenty of information on rexnet as well. Check it out - Plenty of build options for a few engine types. First port of call is a workshop of choice whether you are doing the work yourself, or not.

It's doable and has been done. But I wouldn't trust it - In fact, I don't.

Cheers for the info .

im planing on changing all internals any way and as for the 04 wrx engine i've just got one for a really good deal which is why i'm asking about them . So if eveything is changed with new internals and ported heads is it really any different then a sti motor which has had the same work done to it.

Its only used as a track car not rego'd .

i wouldnt bother with a 'wrx' motor,

plus, rebuilding a 'wrx' motor would cost a lot more then 10k to do it properly for a reliable 400hp.

try a near virgin GD-207 long motor and screw boost into it. it will be the cheapest method anyhow.

I can speak first hand about this, my car didn't last long at all with 245kw obviously not every car is the same and other factors come into play *cough - $&%#&$ - cough*. For a reliable 250kw+ you will need internals and to sleeve the block or that one step further and close deck it.
