Have thought of going to 235's but would I need to drop to 40 profile to keep speedo accurate or not enough of a difference to matter.

Arn't the RE001 spose to be pretty hard core or am I thinking of the wrong ones.

RE001's are a very good performance tyre. I run them as my dailys.

Why would increasing the width of a tyre affect speedo?

Its only the roll diameter that effects the speedo. It thinks a 17" rim is turning when infact its a 18/19/20 or whatever. Number of rotations is then decreased over time and you are actually going slower then you think from memory!

You're confusing the Re001 with the RE01R (this is the same type of tyre as the RE070.

A 235/45 will have a slightly larger overall rolling dia but the difference is SFA.

Are they reasonably quiet with a more comfortable ride???

Cos the aspect ratio changes the diameter as you change the width. ie with a 50 aspect ratio a 20mm increase in width should increase the radius by 10mm. Not sure how much difference it makes to speed ( to long ago to remember the maths ) but won't be identical to before.

Sorry, should have clarified that increasing width by 10mm will do bugger all to speedo changes. I was trying to be rhetorical but failed miserably!

Can't comment personally on noise / comfort as those 2 words don't go with my car.

A friend runs them as his dailys on a stock 07 WRX. Slightly harder ride, quieter, more predictable.

Yea sorry shouldn't have wasted that post asking. I'm sure you have driven it occasionally without bouncing off the rev limiter but certainly not the couple of times I cave seen it

Makes hearing road noise a bit of a secondary concern.
