Default Lol!!

interesting read....what a laugh!!!

http://www.thewest.com.au/default.as...ontentID=82485

" He said he often saw teenagers driving turbocharged four-cylinder cars like Subaru Imprezas and Mitsubishi Lancers, which can have power-to-weight ratios of up to 160kW/tonne and can go from 0-100kmh in just over five seconds.

A standard 1986 VL Holden Commodore V8 has a power-to-weight ratio of about 91kW/tonne and takes 9.5 seconds to reach 100kmh. "

"Mr Cowper said such laws and a power-to-weight ratio limit would save lives. "

And how many old cars compared to new cars are the causes of death?

I know when buying a car I went 'hrmm I can spend $60k on a 2007 Evo IX or $5k on a 1986 VL Commodore - yup those are my 2 cars to choose from'

Saving lives would be getting young drivers in newer cars with better safety features such as disc brakes, airbags, abs, esp, etc.

Oh and back in 1986 a V8 Commodore was a performance car. In 22 years time an Evo will be the same.

Fuckin lol at what this state is becoming and how uneducated half of our leaders are.

So, driving a turbo diesel ute (Hilux, etc.) in Qld, NSW and Victoria would be illegal for a P-plater?

Dude, at one point P plate drivers in the east couldnt drive Charade GTi's because theyre turbo charged, yet could drive NSX's because theyre NA, we live in a country run be fuckwits grasping at straws to try and do something about the massive fatality figures on the roads and obviously they have no idea as theyre not going down

indeed, its natural selection really, if someone wants to buy a car worth heaps then be silly in it and crash it, that is their choice i think. not the problem of anyone else.

I'm not phased because i'm not on my P plates. However i find it funny how he says he comes across turbo lancers all the time. I don't see Evolutions or the GSR varients very often at all, and i'm yet to see one driven by someone on their Ps, let alone see anyone driving an Evo wrecklessly on their Ps

I've seen more bunky cars get driven stupidly then anything else, VBs, VLs, old shitty camrys and so forth.

If someone's going to speed they'll speed.. Cars don't kill people, people kill people

Maybe they should limit every 1000 brain cells to a couple Kws

we will all soon have chips in our cars linked to a central computer that tells them when we are speeding then they can press the slow down button to instantly slow us down......

I see where youre going mate, but unfortunately these problems DO become everyone else's problems.
It effects:

* Our taxes and National budget going into road safety campaigns, emergency response teams and hospital and medical staff payrolls when each and every one of these crashes occurs.
* The families and friends that had no choice over the actions of their loved ones yet now suffer for their actions
* The familes and friends of others related to innocent parties who may have died in crashes that weren't their fault.
* Everyone's insurance premiums go up
* State/ Federal Govt implements harsher laws and penalties on us all...

Yea like that will happen.

Won't slow you down just send a fine in the mail. Where is the revenue in slowing you down.

I think it needs to be made compulsory for ALL driver to attend an advanced driver course with a difference ( though this idea will never happen ). Stuff the emergency braking drills, Throw a dummy out in front of the car at a random time with no warning ( perth has plenty of dummy's on the road so supply isn't an issue ). Watch how many loose control or panic.

Also have a stunt driver demonstrate just how easy it is to roll a vehicle after dropping a wheel on the gravel at the side of the road. Scare the F&^K out of them about how easy things can go wrong and show them that they have no idea how to handle it.

Your going to have very little success teaching most morons how to drive well ( they just arn't capable of processing as much information as is necessary at any one time ) but you can scare them enough with what can go wrong if they overstep the limit or don't pay attention.
