I think if subaru have plans to release a GT in sedan mode you might start seeing more people actually buying WRX and not the base models which subaru have been doing so well with.

yeah exactly needs something to change to get people who are interested in performance cars to buy a suby again because atm i think the EVO is leading the battle ! ...unfortunatly

The styling was questioned yes, BUT it didnt test the sexual orientation of the owners of wrx/sti drivers in general!!!**

**not that there's anything wrong with that

Now Ain't that the truth.

Most of us on here are pissed that the WRX name has been used to appeal to a wider audience and in the process soften the driving experience. Subaru Oz should have called it the Impreza GT. The 08 WRX is just so damn bland and forgettable. Most times when I see one i mistake it for a Mazda 3.

For example could you see Possum Bourne (RIP) driving one ?

I think NOT.

At least the Ralliart Lancer looks a bit aggressive and will include a fair bit of tech under the hood.

i do think they are very bland looking and nothing special, but i'm not sold on the evo either saw one next to a normal lancer and didn't see a big difference. I think both cars haven't got anything all that special looking would definatly pick up an older model before going new on either.

Japanese AWD expert Subaru is about to get serious with the WRX again, if a leaked memo posted on the North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club (NOSIAC) forums is genuine.

If it has 198 kw, has a slightly better wheel / tyre package and is a bit cheaper, I think it'll sell.

I'd buy one fitting that description if my GC8 got written off..

(But then, I like MX5s too)

BALISTC knows their stuff
Default

I went to Subaru on Saturday to have a look at a new WRX (not to replace BALISTC, its for the wife!). We're keen to order an MY09 so we spoke to the dealer principal.

HE CONFIRMED that the MY09 will have more power and torque, but wasn't sure how much. He also confirmed the suspension upgrades, and the addition of an optional leather/sunroof premium package. He couldn't confirm the rest, but all will be revealed soon.

Here are the specs of the USDM MY09 WRX, which should be very similar to ours

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1567589

Over the MY08, the MY09 has.

- More power and torque....the USDM has now got 265HP (198kw) as opposed to the 224HP (169kw) of the MY08. This is achieved by a bigger turbo, high flow catalytic converter, and ECU tweaks including a small bump in boost.

- Gunmetal grey wheels instead of silver (like the MY02 vs MY03 wheels).

- New grille.

- Increased spring rates and stiffer sway bars.

- Tyre size upgrade....225/45 instead of 205/50

- Red stitching on the seats

- Bigger rear wing

Interesting! It's definitely a response to the impending Lancer Ralliart, but of course its not a bad thing. If it does actually get 198kw, its going to turn the MY09 WRX into a real weapon!! Here's hoping anyway
