Default Can you put premim (96RON) in an 05 STI?

I'm heading down south today for a week and am a bit worried some of the smaller towns might not have any 98RON as I’m going via Pemby probably to see some friends.

Will I fark up my STI if I put 96RON (premium) into it? The manual recommends 98 but says 96 is ok at the sacrifice of some power. Oh yeah it's stock tune.

Hey Albany people I might see you round Sat doing some Yorkies heh heh.

Cheers.

Get some octane boost if you really have too put 95 in. hahaha just read the whole thing. You will be able to find 98 ron in lots of places between here and Pemberton.

buy and stow away a few bottles of octane booster and chuck it in when you find you are stuck using 96 or lower octane fuel

you can get both

you'll struggle to find vortex 98 in "rural" areas
there's BP between here and albany

worst case, run 95, just don't boost it
but as an insurance, just run octane booster
