Default Spoiler Issues

Hello all, i have an STi spoiler i wish to fit to my car but encountered a few problems.

In the following pictures it shows that there is no screws that will go into my boot for me to put the nuts on, also two screws have been snapped off and one attempted to drill out.

I know you cant really use heat, or can you. But can anyone give me a suggestion on how to fix this and get it on my car.

Also the wiring for it has been cut, i still have my old MY00 WRX spoiler can i cut that one up and use that plug? or solder or electrical tape the two ends together.

Thanks!

Yes you can just use your old wiring provided you have he length to join it up. Then use shrink wrap (need to thread a wire through first) or electrical tape for that special Bodgy Bros touch

As for mounting the spoiler, take it to a smash repairer and get them to fit it as holes will need to be drilled to make it secure. Be prepared to spend a bit on this, do it wrong and it will look shit. Also the smash repairer will have some touch up paint to go over the fresh holes so that they won't rust later on.

I have to disagree with Phil, I have the same spoiler on my car and it uses only bolts to secure it, not nuts.

It should locate in the holes already there from your oem spoiler, the bolts/screws then go from the inside of the boot and screw/bolt into the spoiler itself (the holes you've shown where the bolts have snapped off into.

You'll have to somehow get those broken bolts out and source new ones with the same thread, then you should have no dramas mounting it as per above.

As for the wiring, its just a simple pos/neg 12V connection, so just join to your old wires, solder then shrink wrap botrh wires (individually of course!)

Josh

I meant after he'd soldered it, shrink wrap to stop any shorting or electrical tape. Type too fast LOL

As for the holes not lining up you'll get that from a non-genuine spoiler. I also brought a big towel rack for my 02 STi that only 2 of the 6 bolts on the sides located into the OEM holes for the blade type wing. The other 4 needed to be drilled, including making a larger hole through the reinfocement bracing so that the nuts could be tightened on. The non-genuine ones use nuts to hold the spoiler onto the boot!!

Alright thanks for the feed back guys! So this spoilah once i sort out the fucked up screws should just sit on my boot while i jam up some screws from behind (under the boot)..

and as for drilling? im going to put something sharp in the hole i want to mark, then line the holes up and then let the spoiler down thus marking the boot, then i'll use a grease free pencil and mark cross hairs inline with the marking, then put duct tape over the mark, remark it then drill! as the paint is a slippery surface the drill would be sliding all over the shop.

This would have been so much easier if he gave me his boot too. But he sold it.

It looks EXACTLY the same as my replica sti wing and I DIDNT have to drill any holes, four screws with washers (two each side) from the inside of the boot screw into the spoiler.... last time i say it!! If you wanna drill un-needed holes, go right ahead.

Yeah but it has bulk holes in it in the middle, i guess i dont need to use them and it would save time and effort, but i just dont want it coming off or lifting or vibrating or rattling. I'll take the easy way out and use the 4 screws.

Thanks MYREXTC, your my hero.
