Wanted Strut Braces
Front and possibly rear for a piggy sti.
With the other bits and pieces going in figure they might be a good idea. Besides bling factor is there really much difference between the brands? Where to buy in Perth at a reasonable price? Thinking Just the front cos I am not to keen on cutting the boot trim or removing it so the brace will fit unless the rear really makes a big difference.

Yea saw them. Anyone got them and are they as good quality as the brand name ones???
Does the H Brace help much and does the undertray still fit??? Prefer not to spend a heap but don't want to buy anything that is 90% show and 10% results.

John @ Wheels World said the H brace makes a good improvement, but nothing like some of the other underbody bracing you can add. Particuarly anything to do with tieing the subframe and chassis together front and rear of the cab. John recommends Cusco etc, and I don't think it's just because he wants the sale, I think it's because he knows his shit. I have run the Ultrex ones past him and he said they are certainly not a bad thing considering the prices. For example a Whiteline H brace costs 3x the Ultrex one. Get what you pay for perhaps?

However nengun.com and perfectrun.com.au etc etc can get those parts maybe a bit cheaper ex-Japan. I used perfectrun.com.au once and the service/communication/delivery time was nothoing short of superb.

+1 for Whiteline. Also got mine thru WW - just supplied through John though. I put them in myself. Thats interesting though, that you need to cut trim for the rears in a piggy.....????? As mine (Bug Sti) you just remove the rear 'seat base', lift and pull the 'seat back' forwards, then they bolted straight onto the top of the rear top hats. (HSD's). Granted, you put the 'end pieces' on first, then attach the 'brace' to it, but its not hard, doesnt take bugger all time, and there was no cutting??? I found them very useful for helping to tighten up the handling. I would say for the cost of them, (WL), front and rear. Brent.

I could be wrong on the cutting but the few I have seen fitted to the rear had the trim missing and I assumed you would need to make a hole for it.

I wouldn't bother with the strut braces - I didn't notice any change. I'd buy Jason's Group 4's instead.

ultrex strut braces are good. well strut braces in general dont do much for later model cars. but they might increase rigidity by a percent or something. it all adds up.
get a cusco h-brace. |
