Default XT MY09 Forester - Bog Down Query

Hi,

We have recently added our second Subaru to the family, being a Forester XT MY09 and when I get a chance to prise the keys off my wife (weekends mainly), I give it a subtle clean out if you know what I mean. I notice that when I do give it some herbs, it bogs down when I change from 1st into 2nd. Would that be due to not enough fuel getting through or something to do with the tracion control?? Reason I metion traction control is because the traction control light comes on whilst the car stops for that split second. Any ideas?

Cheers
Stevo B

TC?!?!? Wow, since when does an AWD Subaru need TC....thought that was the whole idea of the AWD system....in any case a stock XT doesn't have the power to pull the skin off a banana let alone break 4 wheel traction changing from 1st to 2nd.

Try slow the gear change down a little to see if the jerk is still there.....seem to remember our 06 used to have a bit of a pause/jerk/bog down when trying to snatch 2nd....I recall it being somehow related to the BOV of all things.

Hi BXT,

Yeah, I thought it was weird additon to have TC on the Forester as well, when the dealer handed over the keys to me and explained all the bells and whistles, I noticed the TC button located on the dash, which can be turned on or off (strange)

Cheers BXT

All to do with ESP (stability control) not the traction control part of the ESP.
Harsh shifts can upset the YAW sensor momentarily.

Its the same with both on and/or off. I will try a slower, smoother change next time I drive it and see how that goes

The TC is mainly there to keep the vehicle in check on dirt and gravel roads. Wet roads somewhat as well.
