Question Oil Leak??

I seem to have a bad like almost burnt plastic smell coming from my engine.
So I (Not being a mechanic remember) looked underneath the car and can see oil that has burnt onto the pipes underneath the engine.
So I checked my oil and it's full.

Any ideas as to where the problem is or where it is coming from??
I was toiling with the idea that it could be a plastic bag that has been caught underneath the car and stuck to it, but the smell has been there for about 2 weeks and has now recently become worse.

Could be some remaining plastic stuck to the heated pipes...

Could also be an oil leak, dripping onto exhaust headers or something....

Do you have jackstands to lift the car up and investigate below?

If not just bring it to a workshop and ask them to hoist (or jack) the car up and have a visual inspection..

Hot exhaust manifolds + motor oil = Fire hazard as i found out last week

Get them a mechanic to hoist it and they can even show you if they are nice where the leak is coming from. They did for me. Then they can do what they can to fix it but its not always good news...

no worries... my advice as well... don't leave it for too long. Get it looked at today if you can. If not in the next few days.

Check behind the timing belt cover. Directly above the filter area. Drips down onto things it shouldnt and hence the smells. That would indicate oil pump seal. Thats currently my problem Plan on DIY session soon as it doesnt look that hard. Main problem is you need someone whos done it a fair few times before as you dont wanna f**k up The service manual can only help you so much!

Also check around the filter and the top of the sump, the sump plug, rocker covers as can often get leaks around there!
