Actually I think 40 profile is what he needs. I got new tyres on my car 2 weeks ago from John at wheels world. he recommended the 215/40R17 as they are the closest to the rolling diameter of the original wheels for GC8s. The 45 profile is suited to the GD chassis. In saying this I got the 45 profile as they worked out at a better tyre in my price range.

if you are looking for some real cheap tyres, there is a place on hector st osborne park that quoted me $135 a tyre fitted and balanced for 215/45R17.

when I called the tyre shop they said that the 205/40/R17 are a rare tyre as this is what I have on my CG8 atm but the 215/40/R17 are cheaper I told him what car I was going to be putting them on and he said that they will be fine he I was looking for another set of kumho tyres and he said that they fit these ryres to alot of skylines so they will be fine for wrx.
I will look into it a bit more before I get them to make sure im not going to die.

It's not about them blowing out or whatver, it's about insurance coverage, if you fit tyres that don't meet the vehicle load rating and you have an accident where tyres are a contributing factor then they can technically get out of paying the claim.
