Thumbs down

^^^^ There are quite a few RS imprezas with full bodykit
and wrx bonnets in Perth that are used for driving lessons.

Quite possible it could be the same, not a smart idea IMO
to use a Rex for L platers!!!!

Why not? Better to learn under an instructor in a powerful vehicle than be given a licence after driving a 1.3L econobox and then driving a powerful vehicle on your own.

Or in reverse, learn in a powerful car and then realise the bucket of shit hatchback that you get as your first car is not a race car and you can't fit into that gap (or drive into my god damn evo!)

the sedan is not going to win any awards in styling...
but as a drivers car it is awesome...
comparing 05 to 09 (stock to stock), the overall driving experience is definitely an improvement...you can definitely notice the change in power and handling

I previously had an Evo 6.5 and every time i accelerated hard, i wud get that "head pushed right back against the seat" feeling.

why does my my09 rex not have that "kick back" feeling i would expect from a brand new turbo charged car???

when i first test drove it, it felt reali awesome, but recently, it juz doesnt give me that rush anymore! I gave it a real hard push tonite (I finally ran in the engine) but the car felt too smooth...ther woz no turbo kick!!! I did have 4 ppl in the car and the weather is quite warm as well...but still...i expect a lot more!

This is my first wrx and woz wondering how previous year rex's felt like when pushed?

As far as i'm aware they've done quite a bit of work to smooth out the power delivery and remove the boost kick that the previous models had. It's to make it more of a family car which appears to be the market they're trying to break into at the moment.

I have a MY03 and you can feel the boost come on strong from about 2900 upwards. It's good and bad, down low it struggles and theres nothing like pulling out in traffic with your foot down and bogging right down. Then again there's nothing like feeling the power come on with a kick!

Well you're not going to like any other WRX then, because the new 09 WRX definitely has that "kick back" feeling you're talking about, more so than previous models.

The reason your Evo 6.5 had that, was because of the lightswitch power delivery... a trait of tuning and the turbo fitted ot it. When a turbo comes on early and progressive, you don't get that.

The 09 WRX is as quick in a straight line as a stock Evo 8/9 or GDB STi, and I know this from experience.
