Smile Has anyone noticed...?

Hi,

Last night after washing and polishing my car I went for a cruise round car yards. Ya, I know. Weird day/night for it but I'm a shift worker.

In my travels I visited Park Ford which is located on Albany Hwy, north of Cannington.

Has anyone noticed there are a number of Wrx in their yard for sale?

One has WRP10 on it, (I think I've got the letters the right way around). What do they mean? Club spec auto.

5 near to stock or stock wrx and an Sti (06 I think maybe).

A friend spotted this yard usually had a number of rex's when we were window shopping a while back.

Also, Osbourne Park Subaru had 3 wrx for sale too.

yep, but they are usually overpriced.

is the 06 sti white? There was an 06 sti sitting at the front there for at least 3 months with 40k on the window. but may have been sold or moved back.

as for the different models, have a look around the forum there are numerous threads with the technical differences.

in general club specs are std wrxs with leather seats, sunroof and sometimes 'unique paintjobs.

wrp10 was a celebration, aussie only model for 10 years in the wrc. off the top of my head, std wrx with sti suspension goodies, unique rims and bodykit. only available in silver. debate rages over whether they are worth more than a std. wrx. limited numbers released.

I have noticed that Park Ford in Cannington always seems to have a larger range of performance cars than most yards around that area. But Park Ford is a part of the John Hughs group, so if you go down to where most of the John Hughs' dealerships are near the causeway you wont see a lot of the more peformance cars. Don't know if this is how they have set it up for some reason in particular, but that is something I have also noticed.

Shannon is right.

I used to work for John Hughes and a mate who was running the Performace Car Yard for them now runs the Park Ford used car section. When they changed the dedicated Performance Yard on Shepperton Rd to the Kia dealership all performance/sports cars are now sent up to the Park Ford yard. Usually with the exception of the newer Aus delivered Mitsu's.

I've lived near that particular stretch of Albany hwy for a few years now. Back in early 2008 they used to consistantly stock Evos. There'd be a different one there each week or two (i'm guessing they sold very quickly). Since about mid 2008 I haven't seen one. It's mainly WRXs now with the odd hot hatch or MX5/MR2 type convertible as their 'display' car (parked on the front lawn).

Popped down a short while ago to have a bit of a gander at an STi they had in stock and asked the dealer with the story was with the Evos. Turns out the man in charge of determining which cars were going to be in the yard didn't like Evos and didn't think they sold well enough.

So yeh, i too have noticed that large number of WRXs there (i drive past each day) but only since that new dealer/manager has worked there.

hey guys, i bought my STI there... which is infact the white '06 one (and yeah it was there for ages) - one thing i noticed though was that it sat at the dealership but wasn't advertised and i had to be shown it out the back... if not they were trying to scam me into buying a "Tuned By STI" model so once i saw it i jumped on it straight away, anyway...

reason they have all their performance cars is just like what was mentioned a few posts above, all the John Hughes performance cars are sent up to the Park Ford dealership now to be sold from there

i got it for a bit less than 40k but paid a little bit of this and that for the warranty and all that jibber jabber so it worked out around the same...

The Sti is black. Think it was going for about 39k. Was very tidy.
Appreciate the info about the different tag on the club spec.
Was fun going for a look at the cars.
That would explain why there havent been many rex's at Motorama in Vic park as their part of Youngs Holden. Or are they a different franchise? Doesnt matter anyways.
Thanks.

All I would like to know, is why are there more subaru's, wrx's, liberties and the likes at used card yards then there are at actual subaru dealerships... Seems these days, you want a used subaru, don't go to a subaru yard, cause you won't find one......
