Been around car yards most of my life up to about ten years ago when i switched into security instead of professional car detailing... and yeah, car yards are shonky, all the way down to the warranty.... Read the very very fine print on your warranty, most arn't worth the paper they're printed on... Just an added way for them to pull more pennies from your purse And in buying a private car.. if you don't know enough about them yourself, take a friend that can pick anything that would need to be picked... Warranties most times are just a false sense of security, like an electric fence... only keeps the honest crims out.
You don't expect a car you're buying privately ? Most ppl go over a car they're buying privately with a fine tooth comb and in some cases get a professional mechanical check, such as checking all other things that could be wrong... But hey, that's just me |

No security having a warranty even if it is written on paper.
The car yard I bought my rex from couldnt even check or use the correct coolant when I was taking it to them for servicing which I had to do due to warranty. The car had an issue which could have cost a minimum 7k to fix. Even though the broken part was listed on my warranty, under the fine print of the contract they were only obligated to pay 1k of the repairs. Consumer affairs said that was 'normal'. Thank god for JWS in Wangara. Those guys are magicians with the work they've done to keep my car running. |

I personally wouldn't by a used car from just any used car yard.
I would buy a traded in car from my own dealership though.....Sans warranty! JH used to buy BMW's from auction over east for his prestige yard......None ever had any service history or log books.....

Supposedly required engine rebuild down to the rings. Thats what the servive manager told me anyway and that was the minimum figure he could give me.
Obviously I told them to shove their warranty where the sun don't shine. JWS sorted the issue for $150. Go figure. |
