Callum, the problem is the 257 is a: not actually used in JDM models, so importing a half cut from Japland wouldn't have the 257 motor. Importing one from the US, or buying one here locally as a wreck would be the only way.

Also, as Tuna (Stace) mentioned, the 207 (2L) is a more desirable option as it has proven reliablity. Could always make it a 2.2 with a stroker kit or something I guess... But if I was in your shoes and doing this, I would bring in a spec C half cut, or JDM STI and just stick with the 207, brembo's, 6spd, DCCD etc..

the only JDM 257 is the forester sti, again its not the pick of the litter.

JWS do bring in a number 257 driveline's, as suggested I'd be biased towards the 207 (2Litre) but the 257 would be very competant in the GC8 if you're not looking to push its boundaries too far.

I'd guess at a 'complete' driveline being ~20k+. Best to call JWS/Diamond Auto etc and get some prices.

So i'm better off with a 2 litre...
My aim is to have a new car with ample power and handling.
Even tho my gc8 has only done 72k kms.
But not keen on the new shape wrx so thought I might do a complete swap over.
