Further mto our testing on the MY06 we can conclude that car has better results with a well designed exhaust. However what is not totally clear to everyone is that the car needs other things done to ensure its reliable as well.
Early tests indicated that the car/s (esp the STi) would run very lean, however with more detailed testing, this is not so much of an issue if the exhaust is designed and fitted correctly. What is important is the fitting of a new fuel pump, as with previous models (its the same part number) the pump has limits and more importantly as it gets older it will start to lose some of its performance. Resulting in lower fuel delivery.

We are doing more work on this, however this thread is to draw attention to anyone of the risks of modifying MY06 WRX and STi models."

SAFC is a dodge fix for cars without a programable ECU. The problem with the current generation Subaru ECU is that it is a LEARNING ECU. You tune it to fix your AFRs on a dyno with the SAFC and it will know something is not right and undo those changes.

If the dollars are tight, go get yourself an Ecutek 2 tune on your factory ECU. Your AFRs will be much better and you'll also have a much better ignition map to give you a much better setup for under $1000. If you can stretch to the level 3 tune then even better.

Ring Race Torque or Maximum Motorsport and discuss with them your options.

You got it - divide figure by 2.2 to convert pound to kg then multiply by 9.81 to get in Newtons. Then divide by 39.37 (number of inches in a metre) to get Nm. So 1536 is about 175Nm.

What a stupid measurement for torque anyway ??

SAFC is a short term fix. Why do you spend over 50k on a car and skim on making sure the engine doesn't die on it? Just not worth it!
Bling is great, but if you want performance as well, you can't be cheap.

Jon's right, go ECUtek as a short term fix if you really have to skim. Otherwise get a proper ECU

The other option is to get really big, loud speakers and a big doof doof stezza so you don't hear the engine pinging it's head-off.

Jon's/Joe's right - an ecu (and fuel pump) is way more important than anything else you plan doing to your car - listen to the advice that's being given - blingy shit can wait till later.

is ecutek 2 like a standalone or also a piggy back?
because currently the SAFC 2 is $990 installed and tuned.
i should have gone for the ecutek then if it is under 1g
because i thought ecutek was like 3000$ at least...
