Default budget dak dak

So, a hypothetical thread.

Say you had about 15k to spend on a performance Subaru, which way would you go?

Be interesting to hear what people think.

Options that I can see -

stockish clean early gc8 with some mods
stock or not so clean late gc8
early stockish bugeye.. easily from over east
gt forri, but most are auto so this is gayer than that thing jester did to me one night after a bottle of vodka
rs liberty and mods

or (insert conversion here) tons of options naturally ..

So what would you do ?

Unbastardized late GC8.

When you do get the money to modify later on, 2nd hand performance parts are dirt cheap and easy to come by for GC8s.

I'd go for a GT Forester....buy a nearly shagged one cheap cheap ($8k) & throw in a 207 + 6spd. Easily get a 99GT for $10 or so nowadays. 01/02 GT's tend to be about the $13k mark. A guy on ozfoz bought a clean 99 GT with a 'engine problem' for $3k that turned out to be just the oil return from the turbo disconnected.

Or buy GX Impreza, insert EZ30.

if you wanted an RS you could buy this and be pretty set http://www.rexnet.com.au/forum/index...owtopic=118684

but otherwise if you wanted to mod it yourself a stock GC8/bugeye would be the best way to go imo

How does 8k plus 3 or more grand for a 207 plus 4ish for a 6 speed = 15?

Could always buy a non turbo for 5?
