Default Modifications limits for Street cars

Hi Mates

I would like to ask if you guys can inform me regarding the limitations on modifications regarding street legal cars, this include performance enhancements as well as modifications to improve handling?

I would like to know what the legal issues there might arise when I bring my car over please?

Thanx for all the info in advance

SJ

You could tell us what mods you wish to carry out and how they are legal/illegal. Would be simpler.

Exhaust volume under 90 something db.
Engine not extra capaicty by more than 10%.
No gasses venting to atmosphere without going through the cat.
Car needs to be 100mm minimum lowest point off the ground with 4 passengers in the car.
Wheel width can't be greater than 8" unless that is a factory item.
Wheel diameter can't be greater than 2" more than factory.
Forward facing lights need to be white.
Rear lights need to be red other than reverse.
Turning lights need to be amber.
No visable oil leaks or damage.

Or something close to those things. Essentially your car needs to comply with the ADR's.

My guess is you will need to borrow a set of wheels and tyres from someone to get it registered. If the wheel/tyre sizes are not on a tyre placard for that model and make it will be rejected. From memory nothing came out in OZ in that size from Subaru.
Just guessing at this, but your oil catch cans might draw some attention? Anyone take a car over the pits with something this blindinlgly obviously "motorsport" and get away with it?

Thanx doc

Does the rest of the mods fit the Auzzy profile? I dont mind getting a engineering certificate or what ever it is, but I dont want them to give me problems because of illegal mods?

Thanx mates for the info, it will make my heart aches less when the migration process is near.

your Gt3076 is external wastegate setup correct? if not vented back in to the exhaust they will fail you for it. i would get a engineering certificate for your coilovers, and catchcan. Tyres wont pass and probably the carbon spoiler.

Oh... You are bringing this over from South Africa, not South Australia!?

For the cost of bringing it over, wouldn't it make financial sense to sell and purchase something local?

Unless its a special model, I don't see the point in bringing it over as your re-sale will never be the same as a local car.

Oh. I assumed it was South Australia also.

Definitely sell it over there. If you still have all the stock bits maybe take off the bits you are particularly fond of and that are a bit harder to get hold of here like your carbon spoiler etc and just put them on one when you get here?

Monumuental pain in the ass to bring your car over from South Africa and it can only be done if you have owned it for at least 12 months in SA.
