Nissan only order sold units of the GT-R at 180k a pop... Thats a Nissan directive. We are not allowed to have unsold units on order. But at any given time my 4 dealerships have ~$20m sat on the floor.

The 1 franchised GTR dealer that i deal with have 12 GTR's on order this year, and as far as i know the other franchised dealer has sold less than that...

Maybe holden dealers like paying huge floorplan bills, but for me its crazy to stock a car and cost yourselves thousands of $$ a month to have 6 or 7 of the same vehicle on display. Having said that, I don't know the build/supply times for a Holden. For a GTR they are Built and delivered in 3-4 months.

I know that What i'm saying is that Subaru are being smart... they don't sell 40 a month, so there's no point having 3-4 months supply sat in stock incurring charges/getting dirty etc etc.

Floorplan charges kill profit in the cars.

Just to give you some stats.. my biggest dealer currently has 177 vehicles in stock, MTD we have paid $19k in floorplan charges. Thats for having these units for 2 days (today's fee's are added tomorrow). If Nissan didn't take 6 months to get a Dualis built (in Spain) then that would be lower as i stock more so that customer don't have to wait 6 months for a $28000 car. I stock a load of Navara's as they are our best sellers, plus they are on run out and demand is huge as there are plenty of Factory Bonuses on them (like $4k currently).

All Nissan dealers get the same bonus schemes. My dealers are Northside Nissan - Wangara, Giant Nissan - Osborne Park, Total Nissan - Cannington & Duncan Nissan in Victoria Park.

Let me know whats closest to you and i'll put you in touch with someone who'll do you a good deal.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Each car the dealership has on the floor costs them to have it sitting there. Each day the car costs them more interest. The older the car, the harder it is to sell.
If you walked in to buy a brand new STi & knew it was built 6months ago (1-2months to build & send from Japan, plus 4 months on the showroom floor) & u could wait 2 months for one that will be only 2 months old. You would wait. Why have a 2010 built STi if you could wait a couple of months for a 2011 built one?
